We are devoting our time and mind restlessly to promote Human Rights. It means that we do good things for others’ well being as well as ours. We are concerned that some Human Rights offenders have not faced justice. We can not just sit and look the way they mistreat others. It is an Honour for me for being an Amnesty activist and fight for building a healthy society and making a better world.
Youth and Volunteers of AI Mongolia organized successfully a ‘Human Rights Parade’ in autumn last year. We raised awareness on different campaigns including ‘Control Arms’. To support an ‘Arms Treaty’ is a main objective of the campaign. We built a tank out of the balloons to generate membership activism and promote the ‘Control Arms’ campaign. The tank was symbolically destroyed showing a public support for control arms. We felt so encouraged after managing to gather thousands of people under the conception of ‘No weapon and no war’.
All the desires to search for new ideas, efforts and cooperation made our activities successful. It sprang into my mind to create a tank with balloons after thinking over it for long time to make people feel aware of firearms and weapons. Our Youth group members supported me greatly and worked hard.
I must note that it was an innovative idea. The Mongolians in general have hardly ever seen tanks in the streets, therefore they are not fully aware of uncontrolled harm and damage of the weapons and firearms. Thousands of innocent civilians in the world are killed and wounded because of uncontrolled firearms. Definitely, our tank attracted mass audience and the event was covered by the media. We are proud of what we done.
